QUESTIONS ABOUT REGISTRATION

How do I register for the 8th Annual Harbor Walk & Run online?
Go to the register here button and complete the form. You will be guided through the registration process. Once your transaction is complete, you will receive a confirmation email receipt.

How do I register off-line, using a check for my registration fee?
Click the link on the left side of your browser to download a registration form. Complete the form and mail it to the address provided with your check.

Can someone walk or run without being registered?
Everyone who walks or runs must be registered. This helps the event start on time and helps us get ready to support the participants.

Can I register on the day of the event?
Yes, but we strongly recommend you pre-register by June 1 to make sure you have all the advance information and materials you need. If you register after June 1, registration fees increase from $25 to $35.

If my whole family is walking, does everyone have to register?
For planning purposes, we require that everyone register. Children 8 and under will not have to pay a registration fee. Registration ensures that each walker and runner receive a T-shirt.

Why is there a $25 fee for registrants 9 years and older and children under 8 are free?
The fees help Tufts Medical Center cover the cost of hosting the Harbor Walk & Run and ensuring that the event is safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Is my information secure?
Yes. We have made every effort to protect your information. We use industry-standard SSL encryption techniques to make sure that your credit card information, passwords, and personal information travel securely over the Internet. We have also installed an encryption engine on our database server so that your data is securely stored.

I received a long website address in my confirmation receipt. What is it for?
This website address will take you to your personal donation page. This address link is automatically included in any emails that are sent through the email center in event headquarters after you have logged into the website. You can also copy and paste this link into any other form of email.

QUESTIONS ABOUT FUNDRAISING

What is the fundraising minimum?
The fundraising minimum for all walkers 9 or older is $100. (Registration fees do not count towards fundraising minimums.)

Can you help me fundraise?
We want to make your fundraising easy and fun, so we give you all the tools you need to succeed, including a Personal Fundraising Page where you can post your own message and a photo, track your fundraising progress, and organize an email campaign. Click the Participant Tools
link to find lots of useful information.

Can friends and family make a donation to a participant by going through the main website?
Yes. On the home page of the website, friends and family can locate a walker or runner by clicking on the "Support a Participant" button. By typing in the name of the walker/runner, they will be directed to the participant's personalized donation page.

Do children have to collect pledges?
Children 8 and under do not have to collect pledges, but they are encouraged to experience fundraising. Some enjoy collecting change in advance of the Walk from family, friends, and neighbors.

Do children get their own Personal Fundraising Pages?
All registered children will get their own Personal Fundraising Page.

How do I restrict my fundraising to the program of my choice?
Only teams can restrict their fundraising. Teams of 3 or more people can designate the team's total to the Tufts Medical Center program of their choice. The transfer occurs after the event, when the team's fundraising efforts are complete. Click here for more information on areas you may support.

If I'm unable to walk/run for some reason after registering, am I still responsible for my fundraising goal?
If you can't attend the event, please call us so we can cancel your registration. But remember the registration fee is non-refundable, and we still encourage you to fundraise to meet your goal.

How should I send my donations to Tufts Medical Center?
After you register, please mail your checks in as soon as you receive them, along with your name and team name (if applicable) so we can properly credit your total. You can also direct people to donate online through your Personal Fundraising Page. All checks should be made out to Tufts Medical Center.

Do you send acknowledgement letters for contributions?
Yes, Tufts Medical Center acknowledges all gifts and sends receipts for these gifts. If someone donates online, they will get a receipt via email.

What's a Harbor Walk Hero?
Harbor Walk Heroes are walkers or runners who raise $500 or more. (Registration fees do not count towards fundraising totals and incentives.)  Along with many thanks from Tufts Medical Center, they receive special t-shirts and are recognized separately during the event. Learn more.

QUESTIONS ABOUT TEAMS

Why do people form teams?
Teams are often formed to walk or run in honor or in memory of a friend or family member. Some Tufts Medical Center staffers form teams by department. For corporations, it's a great way to build morale and develop camaraderie outside the office. In addition, teams can restrict their fundraising totals to a specific program at Tufts Medical Center. Individual walkers cannot. The fun and excitement that build up around such team activity can actually result in raising a higher total. Last year's top fundraising team brought more than $34,000!

How do I form a team?
Team captains can create a team during the registration process. All walk/run teams must have at least three members.

How will my team members register?
Team members must complete the registration form. Walkers and runners can join a team during their registration process by searching for the team name.

What if I register before my team captain? Can I join their team?
Registered walkers can join a team from their Personal Fundraising Page. Walkers should click on the "Join a Team" button on his or her Personal Fundraising Page.

Can I join a team after I've completed the registration process?
Yes. If walkers decide to join a team after they've completed their registration, they can join a team by clicking the "Join a Team" button on his or her Personal Fundraising Page.

Why must we have a team captain?
Because we need to have one designated person in the group with whom we communicate.

How do I get my team name on my T-shirt?
We'll personalize your shirts for you with your team name if your team has 5 or more members and the group collectively raises $3,000 before May 1.

Is an individual walker automatically registered if he or she is on the team?
Every walker must register individually, whether or not he or she is on a team. You can join a team during the registration process or from your Personal Fundraising Page. You cannot join a team without being registered.

Is everyone on the team expected to raise $100?
Every walker 9 years or older is expected to raise $100,which counts toward the team total. (Registration fees do not count towards $100 fundraising minimum.)  We really want everyone on teams to try his or her hand at fundraising!
